Organized--Christmas Decor Storage

It's that time of year where we put away our Christmas stuff and start fresh in the new year. Being a newlywed, last year we really didn't budget for Christmas decor so we didn't have many ornaments that needed special care (apart from the few nice ornaments from family and friends).

Before I purchased decorations this year, I donated my babbles to the hospital.
Out with the old, in with the new. It was cool seeing my old ornaments getting great use in the hospital.

Everything I purchased this year was high quality and will last for a while if it's stored properly. I wouldn't say I splurged, I just shopped around and found a lot of items on sale and after Christmas. I can't wait to show you next year. :) I did splurge on storage boxes for ornaments, a tree bag, and Christmas colored plastic bins  (that way it's easy to decipher which bins are Christmas when stored in our holiday/seasonal decor closet...which I'll share later).

The Christmas tree bag was a pain in the you know what but it's better than cardboard. Since moving to Texas and becoming a homeowner I've learned one thing... BUGS ARE BIGGER THAN TEXAS AND THEY LOVE CARDBOARD. (is that one or two things??) I didn't want to take any chances in attracting bugs so we went with a tree bag duffel (similar).

The plastic storage bins have cardboard dividers (flexible for larger ornaments) but they seal tight so no bugs can get into them.

As for the Christmas cards we received this year, I've used acid-free glue dots and added them behind last years cards. You can read more about how I organize Christmas cards HERE

We are exactly the same! I just recently got married and our Christmas budget was non existent. I shopped the sales after and got some great deals on ornaments and other decor. I was stoked! I am definitely going to check out what you did with your Christmas cards because this is the first year we received some (probably because we just got married lol) and I don't want to throw them away!

I did this this week. Trying to get rid of all of my boxes even for decoration storage. I think I need one more bin and then I will be ready to put it all in the attic :-)
